I am a Librarian at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. For the past year I have managed the Digital Project Department Lab at the library. I graduated from UNT's School of Library and Information Science with a Masters in Library Science having an emphasis in Digital Image Management.
At the library I manage digital projects, help with the system architecture for our digital object content management system. I am the resident guru when it comes to anything in the digital imaging world for the library.
I have four passions outside of the library world photography, listening to music, playing music and working with computers.
Photography:
I take a bunch of pictures, I have about 32,000 of them up on the Web in what I call my "photodatabase" (lame name I know). I have been taking pictures since my senior year in high school. I don't really think I am a photographer, I just say I like to take pictures.
Listening to music:
I am an audiophile, there I said it...
I have always had a love for music and the reproduction of sound. Until recently I have been in a constant state of dreaming about the perfect stereo system, I almost have what i think is a perfect system for my needs which means that I can start concentrating more on collecting recordings.
Making music:
I play the string bass in the Ft. Smith Symphony in Arkansas. I have my undergraduate degree in String Bass Performance and while it doesn't seem like I get that much time to play bass anymore, I enjoy it every time I get a chance to play.
Computers:
I have a sick dream to be part of an internet project to create something interesting, while not really knowing what it is I want to create, with whom I want to create it, and how I would do the creating, it remains a dream of mine. Until I get some of those things figured out I try my hand at hacking around with php, mysql, a tiny bit of perl and some xml and trying to figure out how to do things with information.
